curated cinema: zombies with a ticket to ride
2016’s *Train to Busan* leaves US Netflix soon; on Studiocanal Presents in the UK (and lots of other services on both sides of the Atlantic)
Zombies are scary. Fast zombies are scarier. Fast zombies in an enclosed space? Yikes. A high-speed intercity train leaves Seoul with just one infected aboard, but that’s all it takes for all hell to break loose. 2016’s Train to Busan is an oozy doozy horror-thriller, the voracious bloodlust of undead bodies an affront to the sleek shininess of the train, the narrow carriages concentrating and amplifying the terror they bring. But the real monsters are, of course, among the uninfected, as the passengers fight among themselves as they fight for their lives. It’s, well, a ride.
US: stream on Netflix (through April 22nd) and Kanopy; rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
UK: stream on Studiocanal Presents via Prime or Apple TV; rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
