daily scream: when the silence of the lamb is horrifying
2021’s *Lamb* is on Paramount+ in the US, Mubi in the UK
The Daily Stream becomes the Daily Scream for spooky season!
The sheep — and nature itself — are very much judging the humans in the quietly unsettling 2021 Icelandic film Lamb. Lambing season turns strange on a remote farm when an unusual lamb is born, and the farmers — including The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Noomi Rapace — decide to raise it as their own child. Why would they do that? Well… The human relationship with the natural world comes under poignant scrutiny in what is one of the finest, subtlest, most affecting examples of modern folk horror I am aware of. And if you’ve ever wondered whether sheep and farm dogs and house cats are able to project an attitude of WTaF, here is your answer: they very much can.
US: stream on Paramount+ with Showtime (via Prime and Apple TV); rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
UK: stream on Mubi (via Prime); rent/buy on Apple TV; buy on Prime
