daily stream: a brutal condemnation of culturally condoned killing
2019’s *Clemency* is on Hulu and Kanopy in the US, BBC iPlayer in the UK
Writer-director Chinonye Chukwu’s tough but excellent Till was sadly overlooked at this year’s Oscars… the same fate as her previous film, 2019’s Clemency, which is even better. In a brutally brilliant performance, Alfre Woodard portrays a death-row prison warden as she prepares for the execution of an inmate (Aldis Hodge, doing terrific supporting work). This is a stunning portrait of the impact on the humanity of even those who support capital punishment… and, by extension, on the society that condones it.
US: stream on Hulu and Kanopy; rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
UK: stream on BBC iPlayer; rent on Curzon Home Cinema; rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV

I just came across this older post of yours. I didn't even know this movie existed. Thank you so much for recommending! Your picks are really great, especially because you often recommend movies that I've missed out on entirely. Thank you again for your writing, seriously.
