daily stream: art and life as an active joy
2017’s *Faces Places* is on Mubi on both sides of the Atlantic, but leaves the UK service on March 24th
Need a cheery pick-me-up because everything everywhere is shit all at once? I heartily recommend the 2107 documentary Faces Places (equally charmingly entitled Visages, Villages in the original French). Film legend Agnès Varda teams up with photographer and muralist JR to tool around rural France, creating art as social commentary and community project that involves and captivates everyone they encounter… and us, too. This is a fun and often laugh-out-loud funny expression of creativity and life itself as an active joy that finds poetry in the hearts of everyone and canvases for expression everywhere. (Read my 2017 review.)
US: stream on Mubi, Kanopy, AMC+ (via Prime); rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
