daily stream: Clive Owen’s writer haunts me
1999’s *Croupier* leaves US Netflix soon; on Prime in the UK
I think I need to revisit 1999’s Croupier soon. I haven’t seen it since it was new, but it’s a movie about a struggling writer, which if/until I hit the big time is always gonna resonate with me. I also feel like, when I reread my 2000 review of the film, that there’s a whole ton of subtext that I missed (or maybe I just wasn’t able at the time to articulate how it hit me). Anyway, it’s moody Clive Owen with awesome Alex Kingston and Gina McKee smacking him, in that there London town, which I’m curious to see how it’s changed in the interim.
US: stream on Netflix through March 25; also streaming on Prime and Mubi (via Prime); rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
UK: stream on BritBox (via Prime); rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
