daily stream: here a kitty, there a kitty, everywhere a kitty-kitty
2017’s *Kedi* is on Kanopy (and others) in the US, Prime (and others) in the UK
Happy Caturday! Why not celebrate with filmmaker Ceyda Torun’s delight of a documentary Kedi (one of the best films of 2017), in which we meet some of the famous street cats of Istanbul. (It is illegal in Turkey to capture or euthanize homeless animals, and the city teems with them. Dogs, too: the wonderful 2021 doc Stray is about them.) Kedi is “cat” in Turkish, of course, and the unusual relationship between humans and felines, captured by Torun at a cat’s-eye level, offers a unique perspective on the kitties — and on the people — when they’re not pets but their own independent creatures.
US: stream on Kanopy and Mubi (via Prime); rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
