daily stream: is this the way the world ends?
2006’s *Children of Men* leaves UK iPlayer on October 4th; on Prime in the US
It’s all science fiction this week at Daily Stream, ahead of an announcement at FlickFilosopher.com. And here we have one of the great sci-fi films of the 21st century: Alfonso Cuarón’s stupendous Children of Men, from 2006. This is horror as much as it is science fiction, about the breakdown of everything, and it captures a grief and a helplessness that is very much of its just-post-9/11 era while also somehow anticipating the early 2020s mood of despair. This is a movie to rewatch over and over again, and to dread every time. (Read my 2006 review.)
