daily stream: Llewyn is the cat...
2013’s *Inside Llewyn Davis* is on Prime on both sides of the Atlantic
“Tell him Llewyn has the cat.” “Llewyn is the cat.”
It’s International Cat Day! Commemorate the event with a re-viewing of — or your first go-round with — the Coen Brothers’ 2013 masterpiece, Inside Llewyn Davis. One of the great onscreen pusses of recent vintage, the big orange cat that Oscar Isaac’s 1960s folk singer gets saddled with is a honkin’ metaphor for his plight: Is the cat his artistic ambition, something that’s become a burden, yet something he’s not quite ready to let go of… until he is? A treadmill of nostalgia and regret, featuring an astonishing central performance, this movie breaks my heart in a hundred different ways. I adore it. (Read my 2014 review.)
