in which it is too hot in the city (of London) to think...
everything that happened at Flick Filosopher from Monday, July 19th, to Sunday, July 25th
Another slow week ’round Flick Filosopher parts, what with some bastard heat in London popping up to show us that while the bastard virus is a crisis that may pass, the climate emergency will be with us forever. It was a week too hot to move, to think, or to do much writing. Air-conditioning is rare in the UK, so there was little escape from the weather (even if I weren’t still a bit afraid to be indoors in public spaces, my fully vaccinated status aside). And it turns out that supermarkets frown upon you sitting in the middle of the frozen-food section with your laptop to do a little writing.
Haha: just kidding. I didn’t attempt that. But supermarkets are the only places properly chilled in summer here.
It’s cooled down now here… and now we’re to torrential rains and urban flooding.
Fun times.

The Body Fights Back documentary review: food for thought
Honest, compassionate, and very necessary, this is a provocation, a challenge to our individual and cultural preconceived notions about and neurotic relationships to food, weight, and body image. [read the review | VOD US/Can]
