Nowhere Special movie review: a father’s final bittersweet task

MaryAnn’s quick take: Beautiful and heartbreaking. A beguiling portrait of love, grief, and pragmatism that unites father and son, built up via tender moments of the most ordinary sort. James Norton’s performance is revelatory.

The wonderful Nowhere Special, a joint Italian and British production released in the UK in 2021, is finally arriving in US cinemas. This is my review from back then, also available at FlickFilosopher.com.

Nowhere Special opens in New York City and Los Angeles tomorrow, and will expand across the US in coming weeks and months; in the UK it is streaming on BBC iPlayer, and is available on demand on Prime, Apple TV, and other services.
