weekly digest: no reviews, alas; some admin
everything that happened at Flick Filosopher from Monday, September 11, to Sunday, September 17
No new reviews this week, I’m afraid, but I did get to some necessary admin work, like getting my Patreon set up to accept nonpaying members (a new feature there clearly inspired by Substack) and getting away from Twitter. You can read all about those things at the links below.
I also spent a day last week at a series of pre–London Film Festival press screenings, and caught a bunch of other films as well. I’m starting to feel more like myself again, mentally as well as physically, now that I am able to get out and about with minimal pain and effort; my walking post–hip replacement is getting close to something like normal again. (It’s incredible how psychologically damaging physical pain can be!) The next few weeks are going to test that, however, with pre-LFF screenings ramping up — I have more than a few days scheduled already that will start very early and go very late — and then the fest itself. This was always a grueling (but fun) marathon at the best of times, so I’m braced for a challenge.
And I also have to figure out how I’m going to cover all the films I plan to see! I really do like to make things difficult for myself…

loaded question: what are some great movies about underappreciated women in history?
And why aren’t there more of them? (Rhetorical question; we know why.) Do you know of a historical woman most of us have never heard of whom you’d love to see a movie about? [reply at Flick Filosopher | reply at Substack | reply at Patreon]
what I’m watching and bingeing
Ted Lasso S3 [Apple TV+ globally]: weirdly, I thought I had finished this season, but I still have two more episodes to go (I’ve started one of them); dunno how I missed that…
Invasion S2 [Apple TV+ globally]: I stopped watching last week’s episode in the middle, cuz I got bored, and then when I went back to the show, I’d forgotten I hadn’t finished it; so that’s how little impact this one is having on me :-(
Good Omens S2 [Prime US, UK, and globally]: didn’t get back to this last week
