MaryAnn, I'm so very sorry to hear how hard everything is for you right now. It just piles on sometimes, I certainly can relate to that, and to the one final thing being the one that does it. I am glad for you that you have a surgery date, and I'll be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed that the date doesn't get changed on you. In the meantime, I'm hoping these other stressors will ease up some for you. All the best.

MaryAnn, my heart goes out to you. It's awful to know that you have had so much to go through, and nothing I can help with so far away. I want to think that you've gotten more encouragement and advice than you can stand, but just in case... I've had hip pain like yours for several years, even though it hasn't gotten to the replacement stage (although I've hoped). I've had a number of the steroid shots, that helped for varying lengths of time. Right now I'm doing okay, but I know I'll be using one or both canes from now on, and I have ultra-poor balance. This is all to say my body's been where yours is, and I know what it's like to have to burst into tears. To feel that desperate - but what I came to say is, you don't sound like you're getting any help with your feelings, your spirit. Have you seen anybody you can just talk through it with? Does the NHS offer that? Is it just as difficult to see a shrink as other doctors? Aren't you in a bad enough place they'd want to help you? Of course, failing that, your friends? Relatives? (They've lost your mother too, maybe it would help them to share pain.) I won't go on, just know that you're being heard. All of us out here in FlickFilosopherland wish the best for you.

I'm so sorry to hear you've been in such pain for so long. It's been "only" six months for me since it got so bad that I needed a walking stick (and now I'm using a crutch). I can't imagine dealing with this for years. (Knock on wood that my replacement goes well and gets me back to something close to normal.)

My heart goes out to you, too.

*you don't sound like you're getting any help with your feelings, your spirit. Have you seen anybody you can just talk through it with? Does the NHS offer that? Is it just as difficult to see a shrink as other doctors?*

Oh, mental health services on the NHS are in even worse shape, and have been for even longer, than physical health services are! The waiting lists to see someone are *years* long. So I haven't even tried.

But my friends have been helpful. I've been meditating, too, which helps a bit.

*All of us out here in FlickFilosopherland wish the best for you.*

Thank you!
