daily stream: die Mads?
2019’s *Arctic* is new on US Netflix; streaming on Prime in the UK
More Mads Mikkelsen! Because you can’t have too much Mads. Adventure survival thriller Arctic, from 2019, is one of the best examples of the genre I’ve ever seen, and it’s certainly not hurt by the fact that Mikkelsen is absolutely riveting even when he has nothing to say. Which is the case through most of the runtime of this flick. As the film opens, his pilot has already been stranded — alone, for weeks, at least — after a crash in a remote frozen wasteland. And then his situation gets precariously worse. Every minute of this movie is gripping, right up until its final frame.
US: new to stream on Netflix; also streaming on Hulu; rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV
UK: stream on Prime; rent/buy on Prime and Apple TV; rent on BFI Player
