This week’s question is shamelessly stolen from Hayden Clarkin, @the_transit_guy on Twitter. (I’m very interested in modern urbanism and follow a lot of folks talking about how we can make our cities better.) Yesterday he asked:
If you could have a Lego set of anything, what would it be?
And I would like to know the same.
Of course there are many many Lego sets dedicated to pop culture… like the Avatar: The Way of Water Metkayina Reef Home set pictured above. (What even is this? Was it in the movie? Was it named? Eighty bucks on US Amazon! Two hundred pounds on UK Amazon!! Who is buying this? Who asked for this?!) But don’t feel like you must limit yourself to pop culture. Go to town…
LEGO fans professional and amateurs, haveso many creative builds— realistic octopus, birds with wing movements, working typewriter, working piano, recreations of The Scream and other paintings, a wearable cat mask and a cape, etc. And so many motorized functions.
My City Movie theater has been redesigned, bigger, and has a strong women's film festival on the screens and posters. With bricks and opportunity to build just about anything, I would love to add a lighting system to my theatre, but I have the Back To The Future car and I haven't even decided which of the three models to build!
The yearly Brickworld Conventions feature marvelous collaborative builds, and the last one I attended had a 3'x3' Freddie Mercury concert with working video and soundstage and and packed with hundred of minifigs. And as for current pop culture, someone created a scene from The Walking Dead.
